Reports of an active shooter temporarily locked down Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst on Tuesday morning.
Officials at the military installation said that the base’s emergency protocols were put into place and staff began investigating the reports.
No active shooter was found and the base resumed normal operations just before 12 p.m.
“Thanks to our great security forces team here, who investigated and quickly resolved the situation, we determined that we can return to normal operations and continue to pursue readiness,” Colonel Michael Stefanovic said in a video message posted on Facebook.
Workers at a nearby business told News 12 that they locked their doors as well as the reported threat was investigated.
It was not immediately clear what prompted the report of a threat.
