The Suffolk County Department of Public Works says the Ponquogue Bridge in Hampton Bays is expected to partially reopen this week, with limited traffic for vehicles up to 5 tons.
It’s unclear what day the bridge will reopen.
The Ponquogue Bridge connects Hampton Bays to Dune Road and has been closed for over a week.
The state Department of Transportation says the shutdown is due to an abundance of caution after a routine inspection found deterioration in the bridge’s concrete girders.
Suffolk County is responsible for maintaining the bridge, which was last inspected in October 2024.
