State police have released the names of the two victims in Wednesday morning’s head-on collision in Orange County.
It happened just before 2 a.m. on Route 17 westbound near Exit 126 in the Village of Chester.
Preliminary investigation indicated a Nissan, driven by 25-year-old Sydnie Haines, of Blackwood, New Jersey, was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes.
Police say the car collided head on with a Honda.
The driver, 54-year-old Mordichy Zafir, of Kiamesha Lake, was killed.
A 17-year-old passenger, also from Kiamesha Lake, was seriously injured and taken to Garnet Medical Center in Middletown.
