21h agoA 21-year-old Centereach man is facing charges for crashing his car during an illegal speeding contest Friday in Bellmore.
Police say they witnessed Ghavin McArthur changing lanes without signaling and driving at a high rate of speed while racing with two other drivers on Sunrise Highway.
After running a red light around 10:30 p.m., he crashed into a car heading north on Newbridge Road.
Police say two people in that vehicle were injured.
McArthur was charged with two counts of assault and several traffic violations.
He will appear in court on May 19th in Hempstead.
