        Police: Red Bank man threatened with gun, doused in gasoline during assault

        Authorities say Jose Hernandez-Ruano, 23, approached the victim Tuesday on Bank Street and began an argument with him.

        A man accused of attacking a Red Bank resident in his own backyard last week is facing numerous charges, according to police.
        Authorities say Jose Hernandez-Ruano, 23, approached the victim Tuesday on Bank Street and began an argument with him.
        Hernandez-Ruano then allegedly struck him with a metal object, poured gasoline on him and threatened him with a handgun.
        Police say the man was treated at a hospital and later released.
        The charges against the suspect include possessing and providing a false identification, hindering his apprehension, aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for unlawful use and unlawful possession of a weapon.
