A man found in Hampton Bays who was wanted in Georgia was arrested for sex crimes involving a minor, New York state police say.
Investigators say the victim's mother found several inappropriate pictures and videos exchanged between the minor in Duluth, Georgia, and 41-year-old Oswin Guillen Padilla.
Police in Georgia contacted New York State Police to find Guillen Padilla. Troopers found the suspect at a home on Gardenia Avenue on Thursday.
Police say Guillen Padilla admitted to using social media accounts to get sexually explicit content from minors, including Messenger, WhatsApp, Discord, Telegram, TikTok and Instagram.
News 12 went to the home where police say they found him.
A man who identified himself as the owner of the home spoke with News 12 in Spanish.
He would not go on camera, but said Guillen Padilla was visiting his sister who rents part of the home.
Brenda Johannesen, of Hampton Bays, says news of this arrest raises questions and concerns about who is staying on their block.
"What can we do to ensure that the people that are living in our community are safe," she said.
Guillen Padilla faces a charge of child molestation by electronic device in Georgia, as well as four counts of possessing sexual performance of a child under 16 in New York.
He is being extradited to Georgia to face charges there.
