New details have emerged in the 1980 missing persons case of Scarsdale couple Charles and Catherine Romer.
The Glynn County Police Department has confirmed that the car found in a Georgia pond last Friday is believed to be a 1979 Lincoln Continental, matching the vehicle owned by the couple.
The Romers were driving back from Florida when they disappeared 44 years ago. They were last seen stopping at a Holiday Inn in Brunswick, Georgia. Remains of two humans were found inside the vehicle and have been sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation for DNA analysis.
Officials have not been able to determine the vehicle identification number.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities warn that it may take some time to gather more information.
