Police say a 36-year-old woman is dead after she was shot in the head in Prospect Heights.

The scene played out on the intersection of Pacific Street and Carlton Avenue late Wednesday night.

Police say they discovered the body of Tamika Powell in the middle of the road around 10:20 p.m.

Neighbors tell News 12 that the incident started as an argument between the woman and a man, and that she was shot when she tried to walk away.

According to police, EMS workers pronounced her dead at the scene.

No arrests have yet been made.
