Person to Person, a nonprofit that serves nearly 30,000 families in Fairfield County, gave away turkeys and all the fixings for those in need Monday morning outside the library in East Norwalk.
Over the next several days, the organization expects to give out more than 1,000 turkeys throughout Fairfield County.
Officials say the need for food is greater than they've ever seen before.
"We've seen more walk-ins. So that tells us that there's a huge need for food in our community." says CEO Nancy Coughlin. "And there are a lot of people that need help, are looking for help."
Person to Person mission statement is to support “families and individuals as they move toward stability with healthy food, clothing, housing assistance and a path to economic opportunity.
