A person died following a motor vehicle collision Friday near Byram Park in Greenwich, police say.
Police responded to the entrance of the park on Ritch Avenue West around 5:15 a.m.
Officers discovered the vehicle was on fire. Firefighters soon arrived and put out the fire.
The driver of the vehicle died at the scene, police say.
Their identity has not been released.
Police did not provide information on what led to the crash or what caused the car to catch on fire.
The area surrounding the park's front entrance was closed for several hours to vehicular and pedestrian traffic while police investigated but reopened Friday afternoon.
Access to the park from Ritch Avenue West entrance was also closed during the investigation but has reopened to visitors.
