Last week the mayor's office announced 75 illicit pot shops were padlocked as part of "Operation Padlock to Protect."
Shortly after inspections started, Peter Beznos, owner of Hii Dispensary in Williamsburg, noticed that the illicit shops surrounding him on Bedford Avenue were closing during the day and opening at night.
He believes this is how they’re avoiding inspection, but he’s still happy there’s interruption in their business.
"To see them closed, even for half a day, is a big plus. It's a movement in the right direction. Makes me feel good, makes me feel something is being done,” said Beznos.
