Speaking of officials in Nassau County, leaders are watching and waiting to see what this nor'easter will bring. Towns and cities say they're prepared for it. We're building berms up of sand to protect the tunnels. We have closed our beaches for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. We have everything moved to higher ground. Um, we have all of our equipment maintained. In the town of Oyster Bay, crews have built up a barrier of sand to protect Tobey Beach. It's taken a beating from erosion in the past. Millions of dollars went to bulking up the beach just last year. In the town of Hempstead, barriers are closed, and they're keeping a close eye on high tide. And in Long Beach, they've moved equipment to higher ground. Crews are also out this morning clearing storm drains that concern their flooding on the bay side.

Flooding is always a concern at places, especially the nautical miles. Several village agencies are working together to prepare this morning. The fire department, police department, and the Department of Public Works all say that they'll be ready to respond to any emergencies over the weekend. The village has also suspended all of its parking regulations so residents can park away from any potential flood zones. DPW is out right now making sure all our catch basins are cleaned so that we can make sure the drainage goes properly if we have heavy rains or there is any accumulation in the streets. Now there will be a free undercarriage car wash on Sunday and Monday if your car gets stuck in the salt water and want to treat it right away. That's the best bet. That's at Hose 3 on Bayview Avenue.

Expecting the bulk of the rain to come until tomorrow night. Even without that rain in Suffolk, some flood prone areas are already seeing flooding during high tide. This is what high tide looked like yesterday morning in Lindenhurst. People on 9th Street, they're already moving their cars to higher ground. Probably going to get all the way into the backyard. That's probably what's going to happen. Just got to move all the backyard furniture to higher area to make sure all the important stuff's out of the way. Or else it's floating into the canal and it's gone. Brookhaven Highway Superintendent Dan La Scuadro says crews are expecting downed trees and flooding. Riverhead's town supervisor Jerry Halpin says crews have been preparing all week, clearing drains and sharpening chain saws.

Suffolk is implementing safety measures at its parks to prepare beachfront camping, outer beach driving, that's suspended now until Sunday. Tent camping and campfires will be suspended from Friday night to Sunday night.

East End farms are also bracing for the worst. High winds could damage their crops and keep visitors away during their busiest season. The owner of Woodside Orchards tells us a nor'easter, the first weekend of fall, will cost small businesses and farmers tens of thousands of dollars, if not more. It's a pretty big hit. I mean, it's pretty, 1/7 of our revenue will be lost in one weekend. And, and when you have weather like that, you, you, you, it's just unrealized revenue. Uh, you never, never make it up.

Ferries are also bracing for the win. Several of the Orient Point boats to New London, Connecticut are canceled until Sunday. Departures remain as scheduled on the Port Jeff ferry this morning, according to the ferry's website. Any changes this weekend will be posted. The Fire Island Ferries say they've canceled the last freight boat of the season on Saturday.
