It got heated. Incumbent Republican Bruce Blakeman and Democrat Seth Coslo went head to head last night. Joining us right now to break down the developments in the race is former New York Assemblyman, uh, Mike Le Petri. Mike, good to see you this morning. Thanks for coming in. What did you think of, uh, you're a candidate in the race, Bruce Blakeman's performance last night. Firecracker, Rich, uh, it's been great to see what was happening. Uh, you've basically had Bruce talking all about the facts of Nassau County, right? You have no tax increases. You had 7 bond upgrades, which for your viewers at home, what does that mean? It means more capital investment. It means lower uh interest rates for borrowing, and that's all due to sound fiscal policy and diminished debt, which is key for the future of our financial, um. Uh, forecast for going forward in Nassau County. Moreover, you have a safe county, one of the safest county in America. So for those of you who backed the blue, you back the Bruce. Somebody who's not gonna be a puppet to Zoran and Cathy Hochle is Bruce Blakeman, unlike Seth Coslo, and ultimately what you wanna make sure if you believe that boys should be playing in boys sports and girls should be playing in in girls sports, you're going with Bruce Blakeman time after time after time Bruce was. Highlighting the facts and his accomplishments during this debate. Mike, real quickly, Seth attacked Blakeman multiple times saying that he is wasting taxpayer money. He really focused on the financial issues of Nassau County. What do you think about that? I mean, Seth didn't appear at the budget hearings or the budget vote. I mean, these are instrumental and now he's questioning what's going on with the affordability. 2 years you've been as a county legislator and you don't know what's going on with the finances. I mean, you should be grill. Then the county executive being involved in there every single day during your time, but instead, now he's waiting until the 11th hour during the campaign just to say, hey, what's going on? That's irresponsible. Meanwhile, you have Bruce Blakeman saying no tax increases in 7 bond upgrades. I don't know what he's talking about, but the financial status of Nassau County is looking bright because of Bruce Blakeman. 12 election debate for Nassau County Executive has officially wrapped. Speaking of chilly starts, it never warmed up in the studio in the matchup between incumbent Republican Bruce Blakeman and Democrat Seth Koslo. They went head to head right here last night. And joining us to break it down now, as well as any developments in this race, former New York Assemblyman and Democrat Rory Lanzman. Well, there were heated attacks, and Rory, of course we know that you watched the debate. What did you think? Well, first, Rich, I, I thought you did a terrific job. It's not easy moderating these things and, and you were able to, to, to keep things on track on track, and, uh, and, and really, uh, thank you for that. Um, I, I don't know, I, I, I, I think like, like Blake and, uh, Bruce Blakeman thinks that if he says, uh, bail reform and Zoran Mamdani, uh, often enough he'll just win, uh, re-election. What I care about as a Nassau County, uh, taxpayer property owner. Uh, things like why do I have to hire a firm to file a tax grievance every year so I can get a fair, uh, tax assessment and, and then give half of my, uh, award, uh, to that firm. I want to know what Bruce Blakeman's gonna do about, um, the mess that he created at the National University Medical Center and how I as a taxpayer, I'm gonna be, uh, potentially on the hook for hundreds of millions of dollars of debt. Um, at the hospital, I wanna know, uh, how, how come his economic development plans, whether it's the Sands casino or the, uh, NYU Langone Hospital at Nassau County Community College which collapsed, are gonna impact me, uh, as a taxpayer. So, uh, I. I was very disappointed that I did not get uh answers to the things that matter to me as a Nassau County taxpayer and homeowner. Rory, you were at that watch party last night with uh friends of Seth Koslo, legislator was there as well. What was the feeling in that room? You know, we're all very proud of Seth. I think he's doing a terrific job. He's a normal guy, uh, talking about the things that normal people in Nassau County, uh, care about property taxes, safety, um, our economic future, affordability, and, uh, again, all Bruce Blakeman seems to think he has to do to, to win reelection, to earn re-election as county executive is just say Bell reform and Zoran Mamdani. Uh, enough, and, and then that has nothing to do with, with either the job of the county executive or certainly Seth Coslo. So, uh, we're pretty proud of, of, of Seth the campaigns that he's running and the issues that he's talking about that matter to, uh, voters and, you know, whether or not Bruce Blakeman's supporters are proud of what they saw last night, uh, I guess you'd have to ask them.
