A wildfire in the Wharton State Forest in Burlington County is nearly contained, according to the New Jersey Forest Fire Service.
The Mines Spung Wildfire was 90% contained as of 1 p.m. Wednesday, according to officials. The fire has consumed 6,400 acres.
Officials say that all road closures in the area have been lifted. Several trails in the woods remain closed.
Five structures are still threatened by the fire, according to officials.
Fire crews will remain on the scene over the next few days to monitor the progress of the fire and to “address areas of concern until significant precipitation occurs.”
Officials say a private aircraft initially spotted the fire on June 13. The cause was not immediately known.
