        Officials: 2 people escape vehicle submerged in Marbletown creek

        Authorities say the driver of a Jeep Grand Cherokee was traveling from Route 209 and tried to take a shortcut by crossing a shallow section of the creek on Fording Place Road.

        Two people swam to safety after their SUV got stuck in Esopus Creek Thursday in Marbletown.
        Authorities say the driver of a Jeep Grand Cherokee was traveling from Route 209 and tried to take a shortcut by crossing a shallow section of the creek on Fording Place Road.
        The car then became submerged in the water. However, both occupants were able to escape without injuries.
