According to the NYPD, the shooting happened around 8:52 a.m. in the vicinity of the Whitestone Expressway and 22nd Street.
Police say an adult male officer was shot in the leg, he is conscious and alert.
The officer was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.
One person was taken into custody.
An investigation into the motive for the shooting is underway.
