Jones Beach is preparing for another high tide this morning, which could bring additional flooding, after parts of the area went underway yesterday evening.
Video from Thursday showed water reaching the boardwalk and nearly making it into the parking lot by Field 6.
Despite preparations, including constructing a temporary sand wall from the East Bathhouse through the Central Mall to the West Bathhouse to prevent flooding of the park's main facilities, concern is still high about how much beach erosion the storm caused.
State lifeguards and staff are monitoring the ongoing dangerous surf, strong rip currents and the size of the waves, though no changes have been made to the beach ban policy as of yet.
State officials said they will reevaluate conditions this morning before they decided on whether it's safe to reopen the beach to the public.
