A man is in police custody after multiple vehicles and two pedestrians were struck in Brownsville Saturday afternoon.
The NYPD said they received a call after 4 p.m. about a driver in a Toyota Sienna striking two vehicles at the intersection of Rockaway Boulevard and Winthrop Street before making a U-turn to head northbound where the driver then hit a 26-year-old woman and a 3-year-old.
Police said the driver then fled to Blake Avenue and Grafton Street where two unoccupied vehicles were struck.
Witnesses said they heard the impact of the crash and ran outside to find the driver pinned against the road by the car flipped on it side. That's when they made the decision to lift it.
"His head was on the road, the vehicle was on his head, we were able to get the vehicle off of him and put him in the seat," said Eudes James, who had two cars damaged during the incident.
A 61-year-old man was taken into custody.
Police said two pedestrians were taken to Brookdale Hospital and were in stable condition as of Saturday night.
