        NYPD: 8-year-old girl recovered following carjacking in Brooklyn

        Detectives say the child and the car were later recovered at Grafton Street and Pitkin Avenue.

        Police say an 8-year-old girl was recovered after a carjacking incident Saturday afternoon in Brooklyn.
        Authorities say it happened shortly before 3 p.m. when the running car with the child in the backseat that was parked at Rockaway Parkway and Avenue A was stolen.
        According to police, the car was involved in an accident. The driver got out of the car, a 2021 Dodge Durango, to check for damages when an unknown male got into car with the 8-year-old girl inside.
        Detectives say the child and the car were later recovered at Grafton Street and Pitkin Avenue.
        There were no injuries reported.
        EMS evaluated the child.
        No suspects were in custody as of Saturday evening.
