NJ Transit fares for trains and buses increase 3% today

For example, a train from Edison Station to New York Penn was $15.20, now is $15.65.

Starting today, NJ Transit fares for trains and buses are going up 3%.
This comes after last year's 15% price increase.
NJ Transit announced the annual increases last year after public hearings.
NJ Transit president and CEO Kris Kolluri says it’s necessary to fund improvements without cutting service.
For example, a train from Edison Station to New York Penn was $15.20, now is $15.65.
Middletown to New York City has gone up - - it was $17.50 now $18.
This is the first year this 3% fare increase has been implemented.
NJ Transit has said a fare hike would be no more than 3% each year after but hasn't said when this increase would stop.
