A United Airlines flight was diverted to New York Stewart International Airport on Friday and seven people were sent to the hospital after a plane experienced severe turbulence, according to New Windsor EMS.

About 320 people were on the flight, and seven people were transported to St. Luke's Cornwall for observation, according to New Windsor EMS.
New Windsor EMS says medical personnel treated 20 people at the airport for conditions that included motion sickness and other minor medical ailments.
They say multiple people complained of nausea, and some said they had chest pains due to the turbulence, but no serious injuries were reported.
New Windsor EMS Chief Michael Bigg told News 12 that the United Airlines Flight 85, which was flown on an 787 jet, resumed the trip and continued on its original route to Newark Liberty International Airport.
The Federal Aviation Administration released a statement Friday night which said, "United Airlines Flight 85 landed safely at New York Stewart International Airport around 6:45 p.m. local time on Friday, March 29, after the crew reported a passenger medical emergency. The Boeing 787 departed from Tel Aviv and was en route to Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey. The FAA will investigate. Please contact the airline for additional information."
