A pedestrian safety project in Croton-on-Hudson is moving forward as students return to school.

Village officials are highlighting the first phase of the Farrington Road Staircase Reconstruction Project.

The staircase connects neighborhoods to Brook Street and Terrace Place.

Officials said the project is part of a broader effort to improve pedestrian safety throughout the village.

The initiative is aimed at upgrading walking routes and making local streets safer for residents and students.

The work comes as children across the area head back to the classroom for the new school year.
