Metro-North riders will see fare increases and new ticketing policies starting in Jan. 2026.
The MTA voted today and approved monthly and weekly tickets to go up by as much as 4.5%, while other ticket types to Zone 1 will increase up to 8%.
Peak CityTicket fares will rise from $7 to $7.25, and off-peak from $5 to $5.25.
A new Day Pass will replace round-trip tickets and offer unlimited travel until 4 a.m. the next day. Mobile users will get a free ride after 10 trips in 14 days under a new pay-as-you-go discount.
The onboard ticket surcharge will increase by $2, including for tickets activated in the TrainTime app.
Reduced fares will remain available for seniors, people with disabilities, and Medicare recipients at all times.
