Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop has confirmed a triple homicide related to domestic violence inside an apartment on Hutton Street at Liberty Avenue.
Fulop said in a statement to News 12 that a woman and two children, aged 5 and 9, were killed. A male, who is now in custody, was found inside with a self-inflicted stab wound, the mayor said.
The scene is marked by the presence of Jersey City police and the Prosecutor's Office Homicide Unit, with a sheet covering a window at the site of the tragedy.
In response to the incident, Fulop mentioned that chaplains and social workers are in the neighborhood to provide support to the family and neighbors. The city is also collaborating closely with the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office to handle the aftermath of this devastating event.
