The Monmouth County SPCA needs your help tracking down who is responsible for abusing and neglecting three dogs in separate incidents.
One of the dogs named Orion is believed to have been in a fight with another dog or possibly even involved in a dog fighting ring. The other two dogs were found emaciated.
Orion was in extremely rough shape when brought into the Monmouth County SPCA. A good Samaritan in Neptune dropped the dog off at the Asbury Park Police Department with injuries consistent with dog fighting. Orion had no identification, no tags and no chips.
"He needed emergency surgery when he was brought to us,” said Barbara Lovell, the director of development at the Monmouth County SPCA. “His head was wrapped in paper towels and saran wrap…his tissue was necrotic at that point, severely infected."
The other two dogs, named Nutmeg and Fuchsia, were brought to the SPCA were malnourished and neglected. Workers say Nutmeg is an older dog and could also be suffering from a terminal disease. Nutmeg was also dropped off at the Asbury Park Police Department. Fuchsia was found by a neighbor in Red Bank and taken to the police department, also extremely skinny and malnourished.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Monmouth County SPCA or the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office.
