Emergency responders in Milford rescued two people Saturday in Long Island Sound from a capsized tandem kayak.
The Milford Emergency Operations Center received a 911 call around 2:30 p.m. about a person in the water unable to make it back to shore.
Marine units say they found the two kayakers in the water without floatation devices. Authorities say they were kept afloat by separate kayaker that was passing by.
They were eventually brought back to shore by a marine unit Jet Ski. Lifeguards from Silver Sands beach towed the capsized kayak.
Firefighters say those participating in open water sports should be wearing personal flotation devices.
