Several people were injured in a head-on collision on Montauk Highway, according to police.
The crash happened Sunday just after 1:30 p.m. at the bend by Kalers Pond.
Police say that Bernard Johnson was driving a Nissan westbound on Montauk Highway and attempted to pass a Honda and while doing so struck a Chevrolet traveling eastbound.
The Honda then got hit by the vehicles following the initial collision, police say.
When responding to the scene, fire crews say they found out that one occupant trapped and unresponsive.
Fire officials say the Jaws of Life has to be used to remove the drivers side door of one trapped person.
A man and woman inside the Chevrolet were taken to NYU Langone for treatment of minor injuries.
The Honda driver was uninjured.
Johnson has been charged with operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs.
He was taken to the hospital injuries not considered life-threatening.
