A man suspected of stabbing a post office worker in Carmel was arrested on Thursday afternoon.
Police say they received a 911 call reporting a disturbance inside the building on Fair Street around 3 p.m. Deputies arrived at the scene, deployed a taser and took the man into custody.
The victim sustained multiple stab wounds and was taken to a nearby hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening.
Police say the victim and the suspect knew each other. They believe it was an isolated incident that poses no further threat to the community.
Fair Street between Route 52 and Vink Drive were closed for around two hours during the investigation.
The suspect remains in police custody and criminal charges are pending, according to authorities.
