Well, it's the first Friday of fall and what better way to kick off the season than with a visit to a farm on this week's Main Street, Connecticut. We're in Easton, and that's where we find our Mark Sudall. He's over at Silverman's Farm. Mark, I see that big smile on your face. You have a great Friday. Oh, this is not a bad gig at all with all this great food. Tommy, come on. I mean, let's go. Come on. I want to introduce you to farmer Jake who's been helping Irv run the place here for quite a while. 105 years in business is pretty remarkable today. Yes, 105 years we've been here doing, you know, doing what we do, growing great produce and offering it to the local public. So it's been great. So you've got some fresh fruits and veggies here. So what's what's in season right now? Yeah, so we're still finishing up with some of your summer vegetables, peaches, peppers, tomatoes, things like that, but we are also in full apple season. So fall fall is upon us. We have tons of varieties that are starting to come in. Um, you know, we've got Gala, Honeycrisp, Macintosh, Cortland, the list goes on. So yeah, definitely tons of tasty apples, all different colors and tastes. What's the one apple you think that most people go for and why? Honeycrisp has definitely become, you know, quite. Quite popular, but my personal favorite is a John Prince. It is well, we'll have you try one before you leave, and I think it is a, um, I think it's a good rival for the Honeycrisp. I think once people try it, they'll they'll switch. And of course you've got some great local honey here as well. So we have local honey. We do all sorts of jams and jellies. We also are excited to introduce our own humble harvest line, which is a product line that we've done with gleaned fruits and vegetables. So after we're done harvesting an area, we'll go through, strip everything out. We send it to some folks here. Connecticut, so it all stays local and they make it into pasta sauce, peach salsa, things like that, which we'll have to send you some of those too. So they're definitely tasty and we definitely saved the best for last. I mean, if you're going to come to Silverman's, you better get the apple cider doughnuts and of course one of the pies. That's right, yeah, you can't leave here without one or the other and it's All good stuff. Look at that. The phone is ringing. That's right. Somebody must be watching. We got to get in there and get some goods, so I guess maybe in our next hour we'll try the apple. Yeah, and of course we're going to go across the street to the petting zoo and see all the cool little farm animals. Asia, good stuff. Come on out and check it out. I know that's me calling. Asia, we are across the street now at uh the petting zoo here, which is phenomenal. You're gonna hear some noises here because these animals want to eat. It's gonna be feeding time. We're gonna bring back in uh Farmer Jake this morning. Thank you so much. Uh, and I'm gonna try this apple. Tell me again what this is. That's a John of Prince apple, and I think rivals the honeycrisp. Mm mm mm mm mm mm. A lot of flavor, yeah, yeah, pretty darn good. Love it. Yeah. So what can you tell us about all our friends? Yeah, welcome to Silverman's Animal Farm. It's a 5 acre animal farm. We have over 100 animals here. Uh, the fun fact about the animal farm is 90% of these animals are adopted, so they come to us. From lots of different scenarios, situations, uh, and then we can give them their forever home and they get to, and, uh, you know, see the customers this time of year is peak season for them, so they, they are on full display, uh, and ready to see all the customers and kiddos and, uh, and hang out. I mean, my family has been here for many birthday parties with the grandkids. I mean, Tell me about the reaction. I mean, the kids just love this. It definitely is fun to see, you know, different, different folks come into the farm, and you know, usually it's a humbling experience for a lot, you know, you usually see the little gal that comes up as brave as can be and they're petting all the animals and then you've got the full grown dad who goes up and gets a little startled from the goat jumping up on the fence, so. Everybody's different reaction. Everybody's got a favorite animal. Um, the animals, we have a lot of frequent guests, uh, the animals, they, they get named by everybody, everybody's got a, but it's great. Now Jake never sleeps. He works here. He also owns Shaggy Koo's farm with his wife Brittany, so they are busy. Now you Digs, I think we're making some noise and. Yes, yes. I think, now, I don't know if they're gonna do it again, probably not, but the, the noise just reminded me, Asia, of, uh, you know, what we hear in our newsroom many times right before a show. It's like a lot of squealing and noises and things like that. I'm definitely the main culprit for that. That is hilarious. Thank you. Enjoy the farm.
