Gov. Ned Lamont announced Friday that his administration has reached a
three-year agreement with SEIU 1199, which will prevent thousands of nursing home workers from going on strike.
Members of SEIU 1199 threatened to walk off the job next week. The union represents workers at more than 50 nursing homes and nearly 200 group homes in Connecticut.
The agreement includes increases in Medicaid funding for nursing and group homes over the next three years. Lamont says that will allow for certified nursing assistants to earn $26 per hour by Jan. 1, 2028.
