Korean War veterans were honored this weekend during a ceremony at Lasdon Park, Arboretum and Veterans Memorial in Somers.
Some of the veterans received plaques recognizing the sacrifices they made during their service.
A Vietnam War veteran said those who served in the Korean War paved the way for future generations.
"Less than 1 percent of our country serves in uniform. Think about that. They take care of 99.9% of the American citizens. They need to be thanked. They are very special people," said Daniel Morea, a Vietnam War veteran and Veterans' Services officer.
The ceremony also featured a performance by the West Point Brass Quintet.
