A man contracted to drive school buses for the Islip Public School District has been accused of having sexual conduct with a minor, according to a letter sent to parents.
Superintendent Dennis O’Hara says that this is the first year the driver has worked for the transportation provider contracted by the district. O’Hara says the driver drove the Bus D route from Sept. 2 until Sept. 22.
“He had no contact with students on late buses, during field trips, or to and from athletic contests,” O’Hara wrote.
The driver has been removed from the routes and will not be returning to the district, according to O’Hara.
The superintendent says it is not believed that any students in the district were involved with the driver.
