Port Chester Volunteer Firefighter Milton Guamarrigra spoke with News 12 from Ecuador on Tuesday evening regarding his detainment and current status.

While leaving for work on July 29, Milton Guamarrigra was taken into custody by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.

Guamarrigra has lived in Port Chester for over 20 years and has been a volunteer firefighter with the village since 2018.

During an exclusive phone call with News 12, Guamarrigra explained what the past two months in detainment were like.

He says he was transported between five different states: New York, New Jersey, Michigan, Texas and Lousiana.

"We're human beings, you know? We're not animals. You know, you have to go to the bathroom, and they're not even allowing you until they want to. Sometimes we have to be seated in the van for the airplane for four, five hours. Without no bathroom, without no water," said Guamarrigra regarding flight travel conditions.

Guamarrigra says he never met with a judge or was registered in ICE's database throughout his detainment.

Guamarrigra says he had two prior DUIs that are over 20 years old, but that he has since then changed. He calls those DUIs mistakes.

News 12 has contacted ICE multiple times and has not received a response.
