The Islanders opened their training camp Thursday at the Northwell Ice Center in East Meadow.

Smithtown native and forward Kyle Palmieri tore his ACL last year. However, says he is feeling well and ready for the championship journey.

“I think now it’s about doing what I can to make sure it’s recovering, staying on top of stuff that will help me perform tomorrow,” he said.

The Islanders open the season Sept. 30 in Toronto.
