Hartford man sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for armed robbery
U.S. District Judge Michael P. Shea sentenced Frederick Wright to 180 months of imprisonment and four years of supervised release for committing several armed robberies.
Officials say Wright would list Facebook Marketplace advertisements for a vehicle and upon meeting with the potential buyer, he would rob them by threatening to shoot them after receiving the cash for the vehicle.
Wright was arrested on Nov. 24, 2020, after investigators conducted a court-authorized search of Wright’s Hartford residence and found a loaded 9mm semiautomatic pistol that he and others used during the various robberies.
The Hartford resident pleaded guilty to three counts of obstruction of interstate commerce by robbery, two counts of brandishing a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence, and one count of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. in Feb. of 2022.
Wright was ordered to pay a total of $14,429 in restitution to the victims of his crimes.
