Pediatric patients at the Yale New Haven Children's Hospital had a special visit from a globally known team.
Harlem Globetrotter Lucius "Too Tall" Winston was met with smiles and cheers in New Haven.
"Just to get to see their smiles, get to know them a little bit, what they like to do, it's a real feeling," said Winston.
Too Tall Winston is part of the world-famous Harlem Globetrotters, a basketball team that lays out a mix of athleticism and comedy on the courts for some family fun.
"Teach [them] some tricks, they got a chance to show me some tricks. I played with some toys, played with a Nintendo Switch," said Winston.
The team will be playing a few games in Connecticut this month, but Winston decided to spend some of his time making a one-on-one visit to these patients.
"That's what the Harlem Globetrotters is all about, it's about spreading love and joy to these kids and families," said Winston.
He says his involvement with the Globetrotters is more than just basketball.
"Just when I spin the basketball, and I put it on their finger, just seeing that light, that joy, that smile light up on their face it takes away anything else I got going on in my life," said Winston.
He explains why 'Too Tall' Winston is more than referring to his height.
"I had a coach tell me I was too short, I could never play college, or professional basketball. So, one thing I always like to instill in kids is, have confidence."
The Harlem Globetrotters will take the court against their rival, the Washington Generals, at the Total Mortgage Arena in Bridgeport on Dec. 30.
