6ds agoA Greenwich student photographer says by sharing his experience with News 12 of photographing refugee families, it has helped "spread critical awareness of the struggles faced by refugees."
Last year, Will Chasin, a high school junior, began volunteering with Jewish Family Services and mentored an 8-year-old boy from Ukraine, who along with his family resettled in Stamford.
During that time, Chasin began taking photographs of the family after he discovered they did not have many family photos.
Since that first snapshot, Chasin has expanded and has photographed 10 families, who have all resettled in the state.
Chasin says the initial coverage of his work has shown "how small acts of kindness can help make our communities stronger, more welcoming and more inclusive."
