Residents in Greenpoint waking up to some commotion this morning after an MTA mobile wash unit crashed into their apartment building. Newsfell's Valerie Ryan brings us the latest. A sight stopping people in their tracks. I don't know how this would have happened. That's crazy. I saw it on Citizen. That's pretty serious. The FDNY says around 5:30 this morning an MTA mobile wash unit truck smashed into 63 Franklin Street. Neighbors say they heard the loud crash. We looked outside and did not expect to see a truck crash into our buildings. We watched surveillance that shows that truck coming down Franklin Street, first hitting a parked car and then making its way into the building. This doesn't surprise me. Neighbors calling this intersection at Franklin and Oak dangerous. I've almost been clipped on my bike before. I've almost gotten hit like a couple of times. I've almost gotten to car accidents. A source tells us tenants were inside. When the truck made impact. Luckily no injuries were reported, and the Department of Buildings has issued a partial vacate order specifically to the bedroom that was hit. We're learning the driver of this vehicle just recently started on the job about 3 months ago but now has been suspended pending further investigation.
