Gov. Mikie Sherrill has signed three new bills that limit the authority of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement within the state.
Under the new laws, ICE agents are banned from hiding their faces while operating in New Jersey. The legislation also limits the sharing of personal data with federal immigration authorities.
In addition, the bills prevent law enforcement officers in New Jersey from assisting ICE operations.
The measures were signed into law as part of a broader effort to place new restrictions on how federal immigration enforcement operates within the state.
