A Freeport man is facing numerous charges after an arrest during a traffic stop turned violent Monday night in Massapequa Park, police say.
Sammuel Dash, 58, was pulled over by officers who noticed him driving with a broken side view mirror on Sunrise Highway.
They approached his vehicle, observed he also had a counterfeit inspection sticker and then took him into custody.
Authorities say Dash became combative at the precinct, leading to a struggle.
The two officers involved were injured and hospitalized for treatment. Dash was also taken to a hospital, according to authorities.
Further investigation revealed that he was in possession of a substance believed to be crack-cocaine and oxycodone pills.
The charges against him include assault, criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal possession of a forged instrument.
