Some homes on Sweetbriar Lane in North Plainfield lost part of their foundations during Monday night’s deadly and destructive flash flooding.
Residents were evacuated due to fears that some homes might collapse.
On Tuesday, one homeowner told News 12 said she could see into the basements of nearby homes while standing in the street.
The damage was clearly visible Wednesday morning as the foundations were partially washed away by floodwaters.
While the homes were not shifted off their foundations like during Superstorm Sandy, parts of these structures were physically removed by the force of the water.
Evacuations remain in place for those affected.
