Former interim NYPD Commissioner Tom Donlon has filed a major lawsuit against the department, mayor and police executives.
The lawsuit claims the NYPD, Mayor Eric Adams, and several former and current police executives operated a criminal enterprise to benefit top officials.
Adams responded to the lawsuit, calling it baseless and saying "let the courts figure it out."
Donlon is asking for federal oversight of the NYPD to monitor its disciplinary and promotional decisions.
The over 250-page suit includes claims that false promotions were made and various instances of misconduct were swept under the rug.
Donlon served as interim commissioner of the NYPD from September to November in 2024, following the resignation of Edward Caban.
