Fire rips through business, forces evacuations in Mt. Eden

A massive fire forced residents who lived above a business to evacuate on East 174th Street in Mt. Eden.

According to the FDNY it took about an hour to get the flames under control. They say the fire started at Botanica Anaisa, a religious goods store, on East 174th Street.

Video captured from the scene shows a massive response with fire fighters getting residents off the building to safety.

Residents were seen on fire escapes climbing down to get out of their homes and to the ground. While others waited in their fire escapes watching.

There were other residents waiting outside for clearance to get back into their homes recording on their phones as smoke poured out of businesses and the homes above.
