A woman has died following a fire in Torrington Wednesday, police say.

Police and fire departments responded to a home on Marvin Street around 8:20 a.m.

While en route, crews learned there might be a possible victim inside the residence.

Once they arrived, crews found heavy smoke and flames coming from the residence.

While searching inside the home, crews found 52-year-old Michele Cullen, who died at the scene.

A pet also died as a result of the fire.

No one else was injured.

It's not clear what started the fire.
