The FDNY is responding to a water main break at a construction site on Broadway and Van Cortlandt Park South.
The call for the break at 5925 and 5969 Broadway came in at 10:34 a.m.
Nearby roads have since reopened following closures on the Major Deegan Expressway in both directions from West 230th Street to Van Cortlandt Park South.
Video from the scene shows water pouring into the site.
Community Board 8 released a statement acknowledging water pressure issues in the area.
"Bronx Community Board 8 is aware of several areas experiencing no water or low water pressure," the statement said. "There is a critical water main break at 160 Van Cortlandt Park South. The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is on site and is addressing this matter to resolve as soon as possible. Please continue to make 311 complaints if you have no water or low water pressure."
The DEP says a contractor hit the water main, causing the break.
The DOB says they have inspectors on the scene now investigating.
Repairs may require water shutoffs that could impact parts of Riverdale. More information to follow.
