The family of a slain 23-year-old is offering a cash reward for information in his death.
Police say Kyle Smith was found at 123 Herkimer St. in Bed-Stuy with gunshot wounds 6:15 p.m. on Friday.
News 12 spoke with Smith's family. His mother, Charmaine Little, says he was a light in everyone's lives.
“Kyle was very silly, fun-loving, artsy. He loved his family, really loved his family, very close with his siblings," said Little.
Little says Smith was an artist, moving from Baltimore to New York to pursue his dreams. She said she was happy for him to be moving somewhere safer than Baltimore. But on Friday, she says her worst nightmare came true.
“I finally hear her say ‘Kyle had gotten killed’ and I just fell to the floor," said Little.
Kyla Smith, Smith's sister says it was a senseless act of violence.
“They gunned my brother down, like he was an animal on the street. And to see the graphic scene that was left behind to see his blood laid out like that. Like my brother didn't deserve that. I think my mind has told myself to cope like this is not real, he’s still alive," said Smith.
News 12 observed security cameras in the building on Herkimer Street where Smith was found but they appeared to be painted over.
