The family of 36-year-old Jamal Allen of Bridgeport says they are "deeply, deeply heartbroken" - not just by the fact that he's deceased, but because they feel "Bridgeport police are not handling the situation correctly."

"It's wrong and my son deserved better," said Mike Parks, Allen's father.

"If the police had processed Jamal's missing person report the day we filed it -- on Friday, Feb. 13 - then they would have been able to notify us in a timely manner, instead of us having to find out on our own by calling the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Farmington," Parks said.

"We were told Jamal was found in a house on Madison Avenue on Feb. 12, and his body was brought to Farmington with only boxer shorts and socks - and we want to know where the rest of his clothes are," the dad said.

Bridgeport Police Chief Roderick Porter said the department cannot comment on the case until the Chief Medical Examiner issues a cause of death.

However, Porter did issue a statement saying, "I know Mr. Allen's family personally and was heartbroken to get news of his passing. If Mr. Allen's family has any additional questions, we invite them to come meet with us in person."

The family says they've already held a funeral service.
