        Firefighters battled an overnight house fire in Paramus in pouring rain. Flames broke out around 2 a.m., spreading through the roof of a single-family home.
        Police arrived on Harrison Street to find heavy black smoke and fire pouring from the garage, with a 2008 black Infiniti SUV in the driveway fully engulfed.
        The homeowner, standing across the street, confirmed his wife and three children had safely evacuated. He awoke to a burning smell, discovered the garage ablaze, and got his family out.
        Crews extinguished the fire by 3:30 a.m.
        One firefighter suffered a wrist injury and was treated at Valley Hospital.
        The cause of the fire in under investigation.
