Police say 56-year-old Idell Holloway was found unresponsive at the Seth Low houses in Brownsville on Nov. 16. She was taken to Brookdale Hospital where she later died.
Officials say her death being ruled a homicide.
The medical examiner said that "the cause of death is blunt trauma of head and torso, with subdural and subarachnoid hemorrhage and pelvic and rib fractures."
News 12 spoke via Zoom with Gerri Aime, the victim's sister who lives in Texas.
She says her sister was brutally beaten to death.
"These are not just little bruises. My sister's head was practically bashed in." said Aime.
Aime adds that where her sister was found by police is where Holloway's boyfriend lives.
Officials say no arrest have been made, but the investigation is ongoing.
Aime says she's praying for justice - not only for her sister, but for the loved ones who are now trying to pick up the pieces.
