After weeks of no rain, Nanuet, Brewster, Dover and Briarcliff Manor have experienced brush fires.
There were no injuries and no property damage after a brush fire sparked in the woods near a house on Law Road in Briarcliff Manor.
Briarcliff Manor Fire Chief Thomas Farrington says the flames apparently sparked in a fire pit behind the house. The embers blew into the dry brush nearby.
He pointed to the lack of rainfall and Saturday's windy conditions as factors that helped the flames to spread quickly.
Farrington suggests that residents heed red flag warnings and that they refrain from creating open fires or using barbeque grills during the current conditions.
